About Boothby

Boothby is a federal electorate which covers the council areas of Holdfast Bay, West Torrens, Marion, Mitcham, and the Adelaide Hills. 

At the 2016 federal election, the seat covered 130 km², extending from Clarence Gardens and Urrbrae in the north to Marino and part of Happy Valley in the south, including the suburbs of Belair, Blackwood, Brighton, Daw Park, Eden Hills, Marion, Mitcham, Seacliff, St Mary’s, Panorama, and Glenelg. It covers an area of 130 km2 and has 124,000 voters.

According to the 2016 Census:

  • We have a median age of 42, two years older than the South Australian average
  • Almost 24% of us have university degrees, much higher than the South Australian average of 16.1%.
  • Almost a quarter of us do voluntary work, higher than the South Australian average of 21.4%
  • Our median rents and mortgage payments are higher than the South Australian average.
